Mr Abdul Aziz
Mr Abdul Aziz is an accomplished lawyer with over 18 years of specialised experience in Syariah and Muslim law, having graduated with honours in law from the National University of Singapore in 1991. Beginning his career in the civil service and a public-listed company before entering private practice, he has advised and represented clients in a broad range of matters including matrimonial proceedings, probate and inheritance, and estate planning such as Syariah-compliant wills, gifts, and vows.
His expertise has seen him appear before Singapore’s Syariah Court, Appeal Board, State Courts, Family Justice Courts, and High Court, with several of his cases published in law reports. Notably, he secured favourable judgments in an appeal which applied (for the first time) the Singapore Court of Appeal’s ruling on non-party interests in divorce proceedings and in a case where he invoked the Quranic law on marriage eligibility for female reverts.
From 2018 to 2025, Mr Abdul Aziz served as Senior Partner (Muslim Law), Head of Muslim Law Practice, and Consultant in leading law firms, where he also trained Syariah lawyers and authored practice guides and 15 publicly available articles on Muslim matrimonial and inheritance law.
A founding member of the Association of Muslim Lawyers, he drafted its constitution and pioneered the “Legal Clinic @ Mosques” initiative providing free legal advice across Singapore. Frequently invited as a speaker and contributor on platforms such as Mediacorp Warna 94.2 and community seminars, and as an Assigned Solicitor of the Legal Aid Bureau, Mr Abdul Aziz is dedicated to delivering exceptional counsel and results for his diverse clientele, leveraging his deep knowledge and passion for Syariah law.
